Chinese, Egyptian FMs exchange congratulations on 70th anniversary of ties

BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty on Saturday exchanged congratulations on the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China.

Over the past 70 years, the two countries have carried out exchanges and cooperation based on mutual respect, equality, and win-win cooperation, while showing mutual understanding and support in international and regional affairs, he said.

Wang voiced his readiness to work with Abdelatty to take the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to follow through on the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and continue to make unremitting efforts to deepen the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership and safeguard international and regional peace and stability.

For his part, Abdelatty said that over the past 70 years, Egypt and China have established solid diplomatic relations and made substantial progress in cooperation across various fields.

He said Egypt is ready to continue working with China to support each other on issues concerning their respective core interests, strengthen coordination within multilateral frameworks, and promote stability and development among developing countries and Global South countries in a multipolar world.
