CAIRO, May 13 (Xinhua) -- President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua met here Wednesday with former Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf.

Xinhua has always been a faithful witness, recorder, and promoter of China-Egypt friendship, said the head of China's state news agency.

The agency is willing to continue working with Sharaf to fully leverage its advantages as an international news agency to vividly tell the story of mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Egypt, build broader consensus and garner greater support for building a China-Egypt community with a shared future in the new era, Fu said.

Sharaf said the civilizations of Egypt and China are important components of human civilization.

Media organizations of both countries have made significant contributions to fostering mutual understanding, closer ties, and shared development between their peoples, he said, expressing hope that Egyptian and Chinese media would deepen exchanges and mutual learning and jointly inject strong momentum into strengthening the voice of the Global South and improving the global governance system.
