CAIRO, May 11 (Xinhua) -- President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua met here Monday with Mohamed Fayez Farahat, chairman of the board of directors of the Al-Ahram Foundation.

Both Xinhua and Al-Ahram are long-standing and important media organizations in their respective countries, and have made positive contributions to spreading the China-Egypt friendship and illustrating the deep bond between the two peoples, noted the head of China's state news agency.

Conveying Xinhua's readiness to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning with Al-Ahram, Fu suggested that the two sides jointly uphold the values of journalism, record the era of solidarity and self-strengthening across the Global South, and make the voice of the South louder and more constructive.

Farahat, for his part, said the media serves as a bridge and link for enhancing mutual understanding and friendly sentiments among peoples. He added that Al-Ahram is ready to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with Xinhua, so as to tell more compellingly the story of win-win cooperation between China and Egypt and gather greater consensus and strength for the continuous advancement of bilateral relations.
