CAIRO -- At least 12 people were killed on Wednesday in a collision between a microbus and a truck on the Aswan-Cairo agriculture road in southern Egypt.

The truck crushed the microbus on which all the passengers were killed, Mohamed Al-Dikhily, manager of Aswan Ambulance Authority, told Xinhua. (Egypt-Road Accident)

TUNIS -- Eight migrants died and two remain missing after a boat carrying 30 migrants sank on Tuesday off the Kerkennah Islands near the southeast coast of Tunisia, the Tunis Afrique Presse reported Wednesday.

On Wednesday, security personnel retrieved two bodies off the coast of Kerkennah, adding the total fatalities to eight, said the report. (Tunisia-Illegal Migrants-Capsized Boat)

DAMASCUS -- The Syrian forces repelled a rebel group attack in the northwestern Syrian province of Idlib on Wednesday, state news agency SANA reported.

The army forces foiled an attempt of a "terrorist group comprising fighters from foreign nationalities" to sneak from the Nayrab area into the town of Jobas in the eastern countryside of Idlib, said the report. (Syria-Rebel attack)

YAOUNDE -- At least two soldiers have been killed by separatist fighters in Cameroon's war-torn Anglophone region of Northwest, army sources said on Wednesday.

Separatist fighters ambushed and attacked the soldiers in Bamessing locality of the region on Tuesday, killing two on the spot and wounding another, according to two army officials who wish to remain anonymous in the region. (Cameroon-Fight)
