ABU DHABI, 13th July, 2022 (WAM) -- Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State, participated in the Donors and Supporters Conference of the International Anti-Terrorism Academy, which was held in Paris yesterday.
The Conference aims to confront all forms of extremism and terrorism, reject hatred, and spread the values of tolerance and peace within the African continent.
Sheikh Shakhboot delivered a speech on this occasion in which he pointed out that despite the tangible global progress, extremist ideologies still pose an imminent and direct threat to the safety and prosperity of our societies.
He underscored that the UAE is a leading regional and international partner in combating terrorism, and that it believes that a common strategy is vital to combating extremism and addressing its main drivers.
Moreover, Sheikh Shakhboot said, "The academy's overarching principles represent the commitment of the UAE to combat terrorism across various sectors, which include hosting and establishing strategic centres such as the Sawab Centre and Hedayah Centre to address many challenges, including terrorism, and provide specialised training to enable and develop national capabilities in this regard.
"The UAE firmly believes that success in combating all forms of extremism and terrorism depends on finding solutions to their root causes, and playing a proactive role in promoting the values of tolerance and coexistence as foundations for peace, prosperity and the achievement of human brotherhood," he added.
Sheikh Shakhboot thanked Tene Birahima Ouattara, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire, and Catherine Colonna, France's Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, for organising this important conference.
