TUNIS, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Prime Minister Najla Bouden Romdhane met with visiting Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Friday, the Tunisian government said in a statement.

During the meeting, the Tunisian prime minister stressed the importance of Madbouly's visit in supporting and strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two North African countries.

Romdhane highlighted the need to promote bilateral relations to an effective and sustainable partnership.

The two officials also discussed the important achievements and proposals regarding the Tunisian-Egyptian Economic Forum, which would help boost investment between economic actors in the two countries and benefit both markets and economies.

For his part, the Egyptian prime minister said his country is committed to further strengthening cooperation and raising bilateral ties to the level of distinguished political relations.

Madbouly also highlighted the role of the Tunisian-Egyptian Economic Forum and joint higher committee meetings in strengthening bilateral ties in trade and investment.

Leading a high-level delegation, the Egyptian prime minister arrived in Tunisia on Thursday for a two-day official visit. During the trip, Madbouly attended the Tunisian-Egyptian Economic Forum, which was held concurrently with the 17th session of the Egyptian-Tunisian Joint Higher Committee on bilateral cooperation.
