BEIJING, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand reported no new cases of COVID-19 on Friday for the seventh day in a row, with the combined total of confirmed and probable cases staying at 1,504, according to the Ministry of Health.

The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 remains at 1,154, which is the number reported to the World Health Organization, said a ministry statement.

BERLIN -- Germany's COVID-19 cases rose by 741 within one day to 180,458, the Robert Koch Institute said on Friday.

The death toll in the country rose by 39 to 8,450, it added.

SUVA -- The Fijian police are seeking further legal advice to charge the island nation's ninth COVID-19 patient who returned from India and infected several other persons.

Fijian police commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho confirmed on Friday that their investigators will be seeking further legal advice before the 54-year-old man from the village of Soasoa in Labasa, capital of Fiji's second largest island of Vanua Levu gets produced in the Labasa Magistrates Court.

WUHAN -- No new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in central China's Hubei Province on Thursday, the provincial health commission said Friday.

By Thursday, Hubei had five confirmed COVID-19 cases, including two in severe condition.

BUCHAREST -- Romanian Prime Minister Ludovic Orban announced late Thursday that the country will adopt new relaxation measures from June 1, including reopening open-air terraces of restaurants and beaches, lifting the travel restrictions for residents, as well as allowing outdoor shows and sports events.

According to a government decision signed by the prime minister, social distance must be maintained in outdoor activities. A minimum 2-meter distance is required between sunbeds on beaches and restaurant tables on terraces, with a maximum of four people at a table.

MOGADISHU -- Somali Health Ministry on Thursday recorded 97 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of infections to 1,828.

Health Minister Fawziya Abikar said 45 patients recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of people who have been discharged from hospitals to 310.

CAIRO -- Egypt on Thursday set a new record of single-day rise in COVID-19 infections, with 1,127 new cases confirmed, bringing the total cases to 20,793.

It was the first time for Egypt's COVID-19 daily infections to surpass 1,000, after the country saw 910 infections on Wednesday, following eight consecutive days of registering over 700 daily infections.
