KHARTOUM -- Sudan and the U.S. have agreed to end the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) in October, Sudan's Sovereign Council said Tuesday.
Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan received a joint telephone call from the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African affairs Tibor Nagy and U.S. Special Envoy to Sudan Donald Booth, the council said in a statement. (Sudan-U.S.)

CAIRO -- Egypt reported on Tuesday a record 789 daily new COVID-19 infections, raising the total number in the North African country to 18,756, said the health ministry.

RIYADH -- Saudi Arabia announced on Tuesday its plan to lift the anti-coronavirus measures in three phases, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
In the first phase from May 28 to 30, travel between cities and regions, with the exception of Mecca, will be permitted during the curfew hours from 3 p.m. to 6 a.m., while retail and wholesale shops and malls will be allowed to open, according to a statement by the interior ministry carried by the SPA. KHARTOUM -- The 35th Chinese medical team in Sudan held a video exchange with Sudanese medical staff on COVID-19 prevention and control.
The event was hosted by members of the Chinese medical team on Monday and attended by Amged Abdelmgeed, head of bilateral and multilateral relations of Sudan's ministry of health, and a number of Sudanese medical workers. (Sudan-China)
