Qantas jet being checked after near disater
Egypt News.Net Saturday 26th July, 2008
Australian investigators have been trying to discover whether an exploding oxygen canister or metal fatigue were to blame for blowing a hole in a Qantas 747.
On Friday, the Qantas plane was flying from Hong Kong to Melbourne when a hole was blown in the side of the jet at 29,000 feet.
Passengers were forced to don oxygen masks before the 747 made an emergency landing in Manila in the Philippines.
The Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority is looking into the incident, with investigators already finding debris from two oxygen tanks in the hold area.
An investigative team from Boeing has also been sent to inspect the aircraft.
