ISIS suffers defeat in Syria and turns to terrorize Iran

Egypt News.Net - Friday 11th August, 2017

TEHRAN, Iran - Days after Iran’s Intelligence Ministry announced the arrest of 27 militants linked to ISIS, the terror group that has suffered defeat in Iraq and Syria, has threatened Iran.

ISIS released a video threatening to carry out new attacks in Tehran, in which it called on young Iranians to rise up and fight alongside them.

A man, wearing a black ski mask and holding an AK-47 is seen sitting alongside two others in the video.

The man, speaking in a Farsi accent said in the video, “The same way we are cutting the necks of your dogs in Iraq and Syria we will cut your necks in the center of Tehran.”

The video displays ISIS’ news agency logo and shows footage of two attacks carried out in Tehran in June.

The video was released after Iran’s Intelligence Ministry released a statement on Tuesday announcing the arrests.

It said, “The suspects, arrested before the swear-in ceremony of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday were intending to carry out terrorist acts in the Iranian central and religious cities.”

Earlier, an attack on the parliament in Tehran killed 18 people, following by which a second attack was launched against the tomb of Ayatollah Khomeini in early June.

Iran retaliated to those attacks by firing several missiles at ISIS bases in Syria and subsequently announced the arrests of dozens who were allegedly linked to the attacks.

The statement by the ministry said, “The message of this revolutionary and vengeful move is very clear the Islamic Revolutionary Guards warn the Takfiri terrorists, their regional and transregional guardians.”

The ministry further added that if acts like the Tehran attacks were repeated, it will retaliate against the perpetrators and those helping them.
